My name is Víctor. I was born in Spain and have worked in several countries around the world during my career (US, UK, The Netherlands). I would define myself as a curious person who is always trying to learn new things and tackle new problems (in any space!).

Out of the many jobs I have had over the years (project, sales, service, product…), I definitely think that product management is the one that I like the most as it combines learning, understanding and solving hard problems working with many different teams and disciplines.

I have been a product manager in several companies such as British Telecom, Amazon, Inditex and most recently Shopify and I have worked in a wide variety of problem spaces. I started out working in the telco industry at British Telecom (BT), focusing on Cloud Infrastructure to deliver Contact Center capabilities to customers (long before AWS, Azure or even the concept of the CLOUD existed!).

Following a small parenthesis in Sales (which was not my cup of tea) I joined Amazon (Kindle) and started developing my PM craft in a completely different way (a PM serves customers by solving problems that sometimes they did not even know they had!). I started thinking on behalf of customers, how can we make things better for them? How can they access ebooks in a faster way?

After a few years, I moved to Prime Video to help develop their catalog infrastructure so we could support live events (NFL, LaLiga, NBA, etc…) and to help customers discover the movies and series they wanted to stream in an easier way. For example, how can we use data to help people find what they want? Are awards interesting? Would you choose a movie based on how much budget it had? What about the actors starring? Are you interested in the Rotten tomatoes ranking or the IMDb information? All this, helped me to develop different mental models when I was working on products to delight customers.

More recently, I jumped to a completely different space. Logistics and fulfillment - but always with the customer in mind. How can we help e-commerce be more efficient when fulfilling orders so customers can get them seamlessly and efficiently? I joined Zara.com to oversee their fulfillment strategies around the world (i.e. how their warehouses prepare and ship orders) and later on took on a new challenge with Shopify to help entrepreneurs around the world to make fulfillment simple for them.
