The mission of visual artist Jhoel Mamani is to awaken in the viewer the desire to believe in their artistic potential and to convey that any idea or dream can be successfully realized. His works communicate a creative concept through the visual fundamentals of painting, and his style recreates surreal scenes full of forms related to the concept of death and life; natural hybrids and crows everywhere.

In this online course, Jhoel teaches you the tools, techniques, and creative processes of oil painting in the surreal world so that you can create dreamlike characters and settings. See the basic concepts of the volume and learn to develop a pictorial piece in oil, starting from a subject of personal interest full of symbology and a lot of imagination.

Self-taught artists, arts students, amateur painters, or simply those who want to learn more about this technique.

Requirements and materials

You need basic or intermediate knowledge of drawing, and have a minimum artistic sensitivity and taste for painting, as well as its history.

As for materials, you need a set of oil colors or separately: lemon and cadmium yellow, cadmium and carmine red, ultramarine and Prussian blue, sap and emerald green, and finally, titanium white. You also need a white palette, a small bottle of medium and turpentine, round bristle brushes number 10, 12, 14, and 16; flat brushes with soft hair, numbers 10, 12, and 14; 0 and 00 liner brushes, a bottle of vegetable spirits (it is suggested not to use a petroleum derivative), a small spatula and a canvas of approximately 50 x 60 cm format (this medium size is suggested, but the student can choose their format).

Jhoel Mamani is a visual artist with a specialization in painting. He studied Fine Arts in Peru, and is dedicated to the investigation of visual fundamentals in painting and teaching visual arts.

Mamani considers himself a workshop and field painter, and a lover of the surrealist style. He has made different art exhibitions, local and national. He is currently the art director of the cultural association "PopulArt", where he promotes integrated arts in districts and vulnerable areas in Peru. The Congress of the Republic of Peru has awarded him the distinction of Commended Cultural Figure 2019.
