Nick is a lettering artist from Berlin, known as Snooze One, who creates unique and modern works of art by combining calligraphy with graffiti. This is Nick's second course at Domestika. In the first, Graffiti-inspired Lettering, he teaches you the basic concepts and techniques for creating graffiti-inspired lettering artwork. Building on this, he continues to experiment with creative lettering to bring pieces to life with unique techniques, tools, and effects.

Design the piece of lettering that you choose in different supports and with different techniques and tools presented in the course.

Anyone who has already learned the basics of lettering and wants to experiment more.

Requirements and materials

This course is intermediate level. It is necessary to have basic knowledge of how to use the different tools.

As for the materials, you need safety equipment such as protective glasses, gloves, a gown or similar, and a tablecloth. For individual techniques, prepare watercolor paper, 300 g/m² paper, pencil, ruler or tape measure, blending brush, watercolor brush, Ecoline liquid watercolor (white/gold/silver), white acrylic marker, foam brushes of different sizes (round and wide), syringes of different sizes and with different needles, Vang Artliner, Liquitex String Gel, a squeeze bottle, an iPad and the apps Procreate, Slide AR and Mental Canvas.

For the extra lesson you also need bleach, a T-shirt, construction paper, glue roller or paper clips, as well as icing for writing, a piping bag, and a cake.

Nick, who goes by the stage name Snooze One, began experimenting with graffiti art and lettering at the age of thirteen and has always been fascinated by the creative combination of the two. Back in school, he stamped his own T-shirts with words, sold them, and shared his designs on Instagram. Over time, he focused more and more on the calligraphic aspect and developed his aesthetic towards brush writing. In all of his works, Nick blends calligraphy, lettering, and graffiti, continually experimenting with different styles and tools. Meanwhile, he combines his passion for photography with his graffiti works and records his artistic process for his successful Instagram profile. His lettering appears on pieces for brands like UNATICS , Combo Breaker, and Bad Apple Skateboards. His influences include the Dutch calligraffiti artist Shoe, Nick van Steen (@radical_only), as well as Tyrsa, Felipe Pantone and It's a Living.
