Can you imagine being able to create your own augmented reality filters and instantly use them on Instagram and Facebook? Spark AR Studio software is ideal for getting started, allowing you to create them in a simple and intuitive way. Through some basic exercises, Paul Brown, 3D generalist and augmented reality specialist, shows you what the software is capable of and teaches you the entire process of creating and publishing your first interactive filter.

In his first Domestika course, Augmented Reality Filters for Instagram and Facebook, Paul gave you an introduction to the subject. Now, in this Domestika Basics, delve deeper and become a Spark AR Studio master.

Start by getting to know Spark AR, including its interface, menus, and libraries. Discover the basics and how to start planning your AR project.

In the second course, explore the different 2D and 3D elements that make up a scene, such as space and lighting. Use LUTs to create color and mood effects, review the 3D particle system, and get started in the Patch Editor.

Discover the scope of trackers and their capabilities in the third course, where you dive into the creation of portals and learn how to use occlusion geometry.

The fourth course teaches the basic concepts of people tracking (hand tracking and the different aspects of facial tracking), including how to use segmentation. Then it’s time to apply digital makeup and go into skin smoothing.

Interactivity is the central theme of the fifth course. Explore the most common patches to add animation, sounds, or instructions. Learn how to create a Native UI (picker or slider) to control your effects.

Finish this Domestika Basics by seeing how to optimize your filter and the necessary requirements for publishing it. Paul concludes by giving you some final recommendations for becoming an advanced user of Spark AR Studio.
