Nicanor García

Nicanor was born and is based in Barcelona. He is an architect who operated his own studio, where he designed a variety of projects including residential buildings, office buildings, educational centers, urban planning projects, and furniture. In 2007 he was a finalist for the FAD Architectural Awards. At the ETS of Architecture of Barcelona, he was a professor of architectural design. He has also taught classes and courses as a visiting professor at architecture universities in Madrid, Tarragona, Portoalegre and Cuenca (Ecuador).

His career as a professional photographer began in 2012, and since 2016 he has worked alongside photographer and artist Shuko Kawase, @studioshuko. Together, they explore subjects such as architecture, spaces, cities, and culture in a distinct and personal manner. Nicanor & Shuko photograph all over the world and have worked globally, with notable clients including:
Japan National Tourism Organization, Jordan Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia, Tourism Ireland, German National Tourist Board, Munich Tourism, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Iberia, General Electric, Volkswagen, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Huawei, Fujifilm, ASUS, and many others.

His photographic work has had solo exhibitions in Barcelona, Beijing, Lisbon, Orense and Tarragona. He has also participated in group exhibitions in Valencia, Burgos and Barcelona. He has conducted workshops on photography in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Beijing and in Ecuador (Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil). At Domestika, a creative community, he teaches a basic-level online course on 'Architectonic & Urban Photography'.

Forbes Spain Magazine included him in its list of 100 best influencers in Spain in 2021 and 2020. In 2019 they also highlighted him as one of the 5 most influential photographers on social networks.
In 2022, together with Shuko Kawase, they were the only Spanish finalists in Fujifim's GFX Grant Program 2021 with a project developed in Petra, Jordan.
