Adrianus Kundert is a product designer and a basketry enthusiast. Playfulness, experimentation and a process-oriented take on design are what characterises his work. His hands-on approach makes for groundbreaking projects that twist existing techniques into new crafts. Adrianus’ work tends to push the boundaries of functions, techniques and materials, striving for new discoveries through an iteration of trial and error. Having worked on numerous three-dimensional weaving projects, Adrianus masters many 2D and 3D weaving, plaiting and braiding techniques and developed his own cross-overs. His ongoing search for new modes of production between the traditional and the industrial leads to surprising discoveries, such as a hybrid basketry technique.
After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015, Adrianus founded his own design studio. Independently and on commission, he works on a variety of projects. Since 2016, he has been active as a member of design collective Envisions, which focuses on experimental material research through collaborations with renowned industry partners. In 2020, Adrianus co-founded Basketclub, an Instagram-based platform on which designers and artists engage in playful basketry experimentations around a monthly changing theme.
