Renata Galindo

My name is Renata and I am a children's book author and illustrator.

I grew up in Mexico City, and I've been an avid reader ever since I was a child. Whenever a book I was reading didn't have illustrations, I'd just make them myself. This is how I became interested in illustration as a career.

I studied Design and Visual Communication at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and then I moved to the UK to study an MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art.

My first picturebook, "The Cherry Thief", was published in 2014 in the UK by Child's Play International, and my second one, "My New Mom & Me", was published by Penguin Random House in 2016 and has been translated to seven languages. My third book, "A casa en tres idiomas", is a YA novel in Spanish, forthcoming by Editorial Porrúa.

As an illustrator, I've worked with many publishers of children's books in Mexico and the US, as well as some animation studios. I love experimenting with visual language, and I consider my work to be very versatile across fields and styles.

Other than drawing and reading, I love cooking, baking, knitting and riding my bike.
