Hi, I'm Hanoch Piven.
I was born in Uruguay (hola!), raised in Israel, studied in New York and live now in Barcelona and Tel Aviv, where my studio is located near the Mediterranean Sea, in beautiful Jaffa.
Since 1992, my illustrations have been published in many publications such as Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone in the USA, London Times and Der Spiegel in Europe and Haaretz in Israel among many others.
Over the years I was fortunate to receive some awards and recognitions for my work, such as a Gold Medal from The Society of Illustrators of New York for my Barbra Streisand illustration.
Pretty soon I discovered that my work is very child-friendly and that led to the creation of over 10 books for children, Apps, TV shows in Spain and in Israel and interactive exhibitions in places as remote as Bangkok.
As I was invited to visit schools and conduct creative workshops, I came to understand that the method of creation I had developed for myself (to override my own technical limitations) is one that allows anyone, regardless of age and artistic capabilities, the possibility of experiencing a creative process and visual expression.
Educators and art therapists reached out to me over the years and we developed together ways of using 'collage with every-day-objects' as a tool for communication and introspection.
I fell in love with this 'collage' process and am passionate to point out the universal factors and tools of creativity that can be so easily observed within it and that are relevant to any process of education, development and change.
This is what I want to tell you in my Domestika course.
My workshops and lectures about creativity in art and life take place across the world in diverse platforms like Harvard Business School, Teach for All Global Education Conference, Duke University, and of course in many art schools such as The School of Visual Arts in NYC, China Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, Art Center of Design in Pasadena, Instituto Europeo di Design in Rome, Shenkar in Tel Aviv, SCAD in Savannah and many more.
