I am an artist, teacher and mama living in Loveland, Colorado. After receiving a BFA in drawing and art education from Colorado State University, I continued to pursue drawing, sculpture, and installation until I had a baby. Becoming a mother pushed me to find a more flexible medium and so entered: embroidery.
I use needle and thread to create contemporary embroideries (or thread paintings) that explore the often overlooked beauty of the subtle textures and colors of the Colorado landscape. To my surprise, when I had my first baby nearly six years ago, I became more productive with my art than ever. The daily rhythm of rising early, taking care of my boys, and then working during their naptime has led to the creation of over 500 works of art in the past six years. For the last five years, my husband and I have lived a life devoted to raising our children, making art, and teaching.
