Hi! My name is Micah, and I am a fashion designer turned fiber artist who specializes in punch needle rug hooking.

I discovered punch needle in 2018 originally planning to incorporate this technique into my fashion work, but it quickly became an obsession that changed the course of my art (and my life)! I created the first punch needle coat in 2018, and I love exploring ways that punch needle can be incorporated into fashion, accessories, and other non-traditional applications.

Through my work, I am to take something traditional (like punch needle) and do something new, creating something that blurs the line between art, fashion, design and craft. Because of this, I don’t like to limit myself to one form or style, so my work spans everything from fine art to decorative art. I have made rugs, pillows, artwork, wall hangings, wearables and accessories – and this variation is part of the fun! I am always looking for new ways I can apply my skills across multiple arenas.

In 2019 I trained with renowned punch needle artist Amy Oxford to become a Certified Oxford Punch Needle Instructor, and in 2020 I launched Punch Needle World as a community and educational resource dedicated to teaching and spreading the word about this craft. I am passionate about keeping the history and traditional techniques of punch needle alive as we bring it into the 21st century!

Today, I balance my time between creating custom artwork for clients and developing patterns, content and educational resources for Punch Needle World.  My work has been featured in online blogs, books and publications such as Koel Magazine, MANEQUIM, Mollie Makes, Love Embroidery and Amy Oxford's Guide to Punch Needle Rug Hooking.

I believe there is so much self-confidence, therapy and joy to be found in creating things with your own two hands, and this is what I hope to inspire through my work and teaching!
