Jodie Ruffle is an embroidery and embellishment designer for the fashion industry, living and working in East London. After graduating from a BA in Fashion and working in industry as a designer/maker, Jodie realised her true calling was in textiles and went on to study Couture Embellishment and MA Fashion, specialising in embroidery. Since graduating, Jodie has worked with brands including Alexander McQueen, Ashish, &Daughter, Kurt Geiger and Mih Jeans as well as collaborating with menswear brand Parc London, embroidery designer Ellie Mac and textile company DMC.
Jodie has a strong belief in the therapeutic powers of handcraft as well as the emotional and cultural value it gives to garments and objects. Working with a sustainable ethos and upcycling materials wherever she can has led to her working closely with Fashion Revolution, as an individual designer and also as a founding member of fashion collective, CONGREGATIONdesign. Her personal work focusses on deconstructing traditional haute couture embroidery and embellishment techniques and combining the imperfect, deconstructed stitch with meticulously placed sequins and beads onto upcycled garments.
