Joana Santamans Mercadé

Hi! I'm Joana Santamans (born in 1977, Barcelona). Now, I currently live and works between the city of Barcelona and the countryside of Empordà.

As an observer, restless and creative, I make art as my way of life. I consider myself as a hunter of essences, an artisan of emotions and a lover of beauty and simplicity, inclinations that I was able to develop at the Eina School in Barcelona, ​​where I studied design and creative illustration.

Positive and enterprising, I create works that reflect my gaze towards nature. I'm the author of the books “Life, Illustrated Bestiary” and “Life, Illustrated Herbarium” in which I offers a personal selection of the native flora and fauna of the European continent. Looking plants and animals like a naturalist and feel the color and composition in an intuitive way. My art, restless and in constant evolution, beats through murals that appear on the walls of hotels and restaurants, exhibitions of large-format oil paintings, collaborations with fashion brands and product design, where my drawings take new forms, as well as editorial publications.
